Michelle Obama is on the cover of Glamour magazine offering dating advice.  She says cute only lasts so long.  Don’t look at the bank balance or the title. Look at his soul. This from a woman who’s married to a rich, handsome man who happens to be President.  Despite that, is she right?  Can we really live on “soul” food?

Noisy Neighbors

Posted in: Tanna

Madonna and Simon Cowell’s neighbors are complaining about their loud parties. I think we’ve all lived next to nutty neighbors with barking dogs, junky yards and trashy friends. An old neighbor of mine used to mow his lawn in a speedo and,… trust me, he didn’t have the body for it. Let me know what your neighbor does and I’ll talk about it on the air. Maybe that’ll end the madness!

Talk to Death

Posted in: Tanna

The WHO..no, not the band, but the World Health Organization..is reporting that there is a definite link between brain tumors and cell phones. Even knowing that, I don’t think I can give mine up. I call my mom at the same time, every day, as I drive to the radio station. It’s our special time that fits both our schedules. But am I becoming “Dead Woman Driving”?

I first saw JoAnne (the redhead in the photo) at Louis & Company’s Dance Studio.  She was laughing, with her arms elegantly swaying with the beat as Jake twirled her around the dance floor.  This Saturday night, she’s part of a dancethon fundraiser for Groovability, a group that promotes wheelchair dancing.  You can find out more at groovability.org.

chesley-b-sullenbergerWe often misuse the word hero, especially in sports when a running back makes a great play. While that may be good athletic ability, there’s nothing heroic about catching a football. However, there are a lot of heroics involved in landing a jet full of passengers in the Hudson Bay to avoid crash landing on city streets. Captain Sully Sullenberger is in Kansas City tonight to sign copies of his book “Highest Duty” at the Unity Temple on the Plaza. I got a chance to talk with him on KUDL. Click here to listen to a true American hero.

The Season

Posted in: Taylor

Friends,

It will be almost time for the holidays after we eat a bunch of Halloween candy  and you know that Adopt-A-Family will be upon us soon, just a quick heads up that we adopted (and by we I mean YOU), over 2800 families last year, and this year will be no exception.

Be looking for details at kudl.com in the coming days about how you can make a difference in so many peoples lives. I hope that as you reflect on the reason for the season, you’ll also keep the less fortunate in your mind as well and bring a little joy, especially to the children this holiday season.

More to come….

Halloween Tarts

Posted in: Tanna

sexy ladybugWho put the sex in Halloween? An 8 year old pirate costume for girls is called “High Seas Hottie”. Then there’s the “Sexy Ladybug” costume. Are those appropriate for kids? Remember when we just grabbed an old sheet and went as Casper the Friendly Ghost. We didn’t need the fishnet stockings to get candy!
