Does it indeed take a village to raise a well-mannered child?  Amanda, who was working a booth for her boss, was appalled when kids walked up to the candy bowl on the table and just grabbed a handful, without saying “thank you”.  She asked one kid, “what do you say?”, hoping to prompt a thank you.  Instead she got a vacant look from the kid and a glare from the mom for Amanda having the audacity to point out her kid’s lack of manners.

Julie’s neighbor mows only the grass inside his fenced yard but ignores the 20 feet he owns outside his fenceline that adjoins her yard.  She refuses to pay her lawn guy to mow what’s not hers so there’s a standoff.  That 20 foot strip is turning into a nature preserve for critters she doesn’t want.  Does she call the “mowing police” or man up and talk to her neighbor about it?

Jessica Simpson told Ellen Degeneres that she doesn’t brush her teeth every day because she doesn’t need to.  She often just rubs her t-shirt across her teeth to keep them pearly white.  She says she doesn’t like them to feel too “slippery”.  I’ve sometimes gone to bed without exfoliating, but I don’t think I could kick the tooth-brushing habit.

I had a recording session today with Dick Hawk, the owner of the Gaslight Grill, and we got into a philsophical discussion about life and who has or had it better..you or your grandma?  I think both of my grandmothers were more connected to what’s important. The basics.  Providng for their families.  I can still see my Grandma Sweeney, with a bandana wrapped around her head, hoisting her ax and chopping off the head of the chicken that she would fry up for supper that night. I also have memories of being chased by that headless chicken.  It’s where I learned to sprint.  But I digress. My grandmothers seemed more grounded than I am, with my rush-around life. I’m just having trouble dialing it back.

Pregnant Tracy is getting advice on how to handle a crying baby.  Some tell her that it’s o.k. to let a newborn cry herself to sleep but others point to new research that finds, letting a baby cry it out, is bad for her health.  It causes high levels of a stress hormone.  Tracy said she let her puppy cry itself to sleep in his kennel so why not let the baby cry herself to sleep in her crib?  Is there a difference between the kennel and the crib?  What’s your experience?

Yes, she’s Phil Collins daughter, Lily Jane Collins, who plays “Collins” in the Blind Side. You may have seen her on Nickelodeon, Glamour magazine, 90210 etc. She’s the inspiration for Dad’s song, “You’ll Be In My Heart”

WOW! What a great show last night at the KC Music Hall.  It was tough getting up this morning at 4am, but it was worth the hurt!  I’ve seen the Christmas show several times.  This is the first spring tour with Beethovens last night.  I’m sure it will be back next year.  Sold out crowd had a blast. It blew me away.  It won’t be long and that show will be in the Sprint Center.

Bombshell McGee wants to sit down with Sandra Bullock and have a one-on-one about her affair with Sandra’s husband.  She says it’ll lead to healing.  Really?  Sounds more like someone wanting to keep her 15 minutes of fame going. Would you want to meet the “other” woman?

Another great spring weekend, full of lawn mowing, gardening, hanging out on the deck enjoying a beautiful Kansas City weekend and I’ve got the perfect mix of music for you beginning with an All 80’s Weekend again this weekend, plus of course the Smooth Sunday Brunch.

I got an email from a listener wanting to know if we had CD’s or could purchase the mixes of music that I play on Sundays. Unfortunately right now I’m not in a position to do that as I would have to have all sorts of legal things to sort out before we could do that, but maybe we could do it in the future and proceeds benefiting local charities.
