If you’ve never done this you should try sometime.  You can fly direct from Kansas City to Denver (1 hour 15 minutes) very affordablely on South West Airlines. We rented a car and drove from Denver to Aspen (about 4 hours) last weekend for our anniversary. We stayed at Snowmass about 15 minutes from Aspen. The Stonebridge Inn about $89 per night for two nights.  Airfare, Hotel and car were all under $500 total.  It is an amazing place, here are a few pix.The Maroon Bells at the top of the mountain, Elk Camp at SnowmassWatch out for Elk, we saw Mule Deer from out our window at the Hotel.Chair lift to the to of the Mountian, We hiked it back down.We even found magic mushrooms on the hike down.This is Independence Colorado. They call it a ghost town now. It was a thriving community in the late 1800’s during the gold rush.  When you leave Aspen to go through Independance pass make sure you get gas first. There is nothing until you get to Leadville which is a long way, but it’s the most beautiful drive we’ve ever taken.Independance PassThis is the top of the mountain, the only way to get higher is to hike it. Or eat one of those magic mushrooms, which I didn’t do. There was a lady we saw on the hike that said if you pick off the poison part and eat the rest it would make you feel funny. I’m not willing to chance it. My luck I’d eat the poison part. I’m fine with a glass of wine. When we lived in South Carolina we loved the mountains of North Carolina but there is something totally different and awesome about the Rockies.  This is me at the highest point (by car).We even had a rainbow on the way home going to the airport. Another MountianThis is the only way you knew you were on the trail for sure, a stack of stones every once and a while. There were a couple of signs but not many. I can’t wait to return. We did all this in a weekend, flew out of KC Saturday morning and in Denver by noon, flight home Monday around 7pm, it was awesome!

Now I’ve heard it all.  A promoter in Tokyo who is showing the Neverland exhibit is giving people the chance to pay a $1000 a ticket to sleep on the floor inside the collection of Michael’s belongings tonight on the anniversary of his death. Over 300,000 people have made the journey to see the collection.   Kind of sad that Michael has made more money since he passed away than he did when he was alive.

This is the view that Rachel Cary will have tomorrow night, she won front row seats with us this morning.  Plus she is invited to our private sound check party!!!   If you’re going and you’ve never seen him before be prepared to be entertained!!   It is an awesome show, see ya there!

Here we are at the Kansas Speedway for the NASCAR truck race.  Our first trip to the Kansas track, it’s very cool.  Bet you didn’t know I’m a fan.  We have racing in the Hamlin family, my cousin Kevin was Dale Earnhardt’s crew chief. Denny is no relation as far as I know.  Looking forward to the big race here this fall, it will be our first here.

WOW! What a great show last night at the KC Music Hall.  It was tough getting up this morning at 4am, but it was worth the hurt!  I’ve seen the Christmas show several times.  This is the first spring tour with Beethovens last night.  I’m sure it will be back next year.  Sold out crowd had a blast. It blew me away.  It won’t be long and that show will be in the Sprint Center.

Earth Day 2010!  Happy 40th!  Entercom is the name of the company that owns KUDL. I’m very proud to be working for a company that is so passionate about this cause. Please see below.This is awesome.  Just taking the time to take your glass, plastic, and cardboard to the bins at Walmart or where ever you can find one will help make a difference!

Tina Fey and Sheryl Crow at the 2010 Matrix awards in the same dress!  We talked about it this morning.  Can you imagine the feeling when you first see the other person at the event?  Good thing they both have a great sense of humor.  Both joked about it when it was their turn to speek.  But they didn’t allow a picture together so I found this one for you.  I told Suzanne what’s the big deal?  One day I had a meeting at the radio station and our engineer had the same shirt as me, he said Walmart right? Yep, it was funny.

Wow! What a game!!! Double OT to move on to play Butler tomorrow, then on to Indy and the Final Four.  I’m also cheering for Michigan State to beat Northern Iowa (who beat KU).  I need a nap, it was a late one……..
